Review:

PROS:

  • Choose times that work for you
  • Minimum pay per pickup that ranges from $4 to $4.50

CONS:

  • The pay formula is: Base rate + per minute waited (for the time you spend at the pickup location) + per-mile rate for the distance between the pickup & drop-off location + 100% of your tip. What’s the base rate? It varies from market to market but ranges from a few pennies to $2.
  • Unless you make more than 3 deliveries in an hour, you’re earning less than minimum wage
  • No gas or mileage allowance (you are responsible for paying for gasoline, parking, tolls, maintenance on your car and any other costs of driving)
  • Drivers are responsible for checking customer’s I.D. for alcohol and cigarette purchases (From Postmate’s terms: Contractor is solely responsible for ensuring that the Delivery complies with all federal, state, and local laws, including but not limited to ensuring that the individual accepting the delivery is the individual who placed the order, has provided valid identification, is the required age, and is not intoxicated.)
    • Drivers say that Postmates penalize them for not completing the delivery if they end up cancelling a delivery because the client is underage

What Users Say: (From Indeed)

POstmates treated me greatly and is an amazing job for your average New York commuter. I know people who work on wall street who still do postdates as a side gig because they think its fun.ProsOwn ScheduleConsHard to live off

There is plenty of work however the pay isn’t consistent being that half your pay comes from tips that you may or may not receive there is very little job support

i like the money and meeting new people and places and was good but worked many hours to experience the job on enough to know how would it be to worked there
